For Patients

a treatment that's right for you

The Columbia Psychoanalytic Center is not only a place for learning and scholarship. It is also a resource for treatment open to the entire community, where both adults and children can access psychoanalytic treatment in New York City.

Our Center trains licensed psychologists and psychiatrists who have completed their specialty training and have returned to Columbia for additional postdoctoral training in psychoanalysis. They represent a select, accomplished group of clinicians. Their clinical work is thoroughly supervised by our senior faculty. Because these clinicians are pursuing further education within our training institution, they have the ability to offer patients high quality treatment on a very reasonable sliding scale.

Psychoanalysis consists of three or more sessions per week, generally ongoing over at least two years, though some treatments expecially for young adults, children and teens may be of shorter duration.

If you're interested in whether psychoanalysis may be the right treatment for you, please read on.   If you would like to explore beginning your own treatment, we encourage you to arrange for a consultation by applying for treatment.
