Andrew J. Gerber, M.D., Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry
Areas of Interest

My principal interests and research experience lie in studying attachment, developmental psychopathology, and functional neuroimaging and psychophysiology of developmental processes, particularly social cognition.

Professional Biography

I am an assistant professor in child and adolescent psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia and a graduate of the Columbia Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. I completed a PhD in psychology at the Anna Freud Centre and University College London where I studied with Peter Fonagy and Joseph Sandler, investigating the process and outcome of psychotherapy in young adults. I did my medical and psychiatric training at Harvard Medical School, Cambridge Hospital, and Weill Cornell Medical College - Payne Whitney Clinic. I trained as a research fellow with Bradley Peterson at the New York State Psychiatric Institute in brain imaging and child psychiatry.
