Professional Biography

I established my private practice of general Psychiatry in 1991, upon completion of psychiatric residency at New York State Psychiatric Institute. In 1998, I completed psychoanalytic training at the Columbia Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. Since then, I have been In full time private practice with expertise in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, and I often combine medications with dynamic treatment. I became a Training and Supervising Analyst in 2008, and since then have also supervised and provided training analyses for candidates in training. I began my longitudinal study of the careers of psychoanalysts in 2003, with a focus on how analytic practice and careers have evolved to meet the current demands of clinical practice and changes in our field. I continue to publish and present these data at national and international meetings, as well as use the data to promote innovation in training programs and support postgraduate development locally and nationally.
