Teaching Opportunities

At the Columbia Psychoanalytic Center, we believe that one way to ensure the continued excellence of our training programs is through our commitment to faculty development. We do not assume that an excellent psychoanalyst is necessarily an excellent teacher – rather, we proactively provide both junior and senior faculty with instruction and mentorship in curriculum development, classroom instruction, and supervision. This usually begins with an “associate instructor” position that allows the new teacher to observe senior instructors and to begin co-teaching classes. Faculty development continues with teaching groups for associate instructors, faculty retreats dedicated to teaching and learning, and group development of new courses.
 
Our faculty and candidates are sought-after teachers of medical students, psychology graduate students and interns, psychiatry residents, and psychoanalytic candidates.
